Right to Choose
We have taken the difficult decision as of 22 July 2024 to close referrals for adult autism assessments via OAADSS.
We are still continuing to assess those that have been referred prior to this date.
If you are seeking a new referral to our service, your GP may decide to support you to choose from an alternative NHS approved provider under the Right to Choose rules.
You can find a service that provides Right to Choose assessments by doing an internet search for ‘adult autism right to choose’. This should bring up different services that offer Right to Choose, and many providers will list on their website their waiting time for patients referring for them via Right to Choose.
You are still able to access free Aspiration post diagnostic support regardless of which service you receive a diagnosis from, providing you have a formal diagnosis. Contact our post diagnostic team on aspiration@kingwood.org.uk for more information.
Anyone experiencing challenges with their mental health can continue to access support for their mental health care in the usual way via their GP, talking therapies or the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire NHS 24/7 Mental Health Helpline via 111.
We understand that this is very disappointing and sincerely apologise for the impact this will have. Anyone experiencing challenges with their mental health can continue to access support for their mental health care in the usual way, via their GP, talking therapies or the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire NHS 24/7 Mental Health Helpline via 111.
Please direct any concerns regarding Oxfordshire NHS autism diagnostic provisions to the commissioners and your MP.
