My name is Vicky Shaw, and I manage the OAADSS service. I have worked with Autism at Kingwood since 2010, first as a support worker and then as a support manager. I joined the OAADSS team in November 2021.
I have multiple long term health conditions (including HSD, chronic pain and POTS) and was diagnosed with autism as an adult at 26 years old, followed by ADHD. Autism and AuDHD have since become somewhat of a special interest. I especially enjoy researching different sensory aids and have a fairly well-equipped sensory collection in my sensory room at home.
I live on my own with 2 dogs (Kahllie and Pepper) and my two cats (Billy and Cora). My interests are anything arts and crafty, reading crime and horror, watching true crime/disasters/when things go wrong, and learning about co morbidities of autism. I also volunteer for 3rd Grove Brownies, 1st Grove Rainbows and am the Grove District Commissioner along with a friend. I really enjoy being a part of this.
I also volunteer at Abingdon Dog Training Club – where Pepper achieved her Kennel Club Gold Citizens Award. In June, they are funding my Medical Alert Dog Trainer training. Pepper and I do Scatters, Barn Hunt and compete in Rally Online for fun. She is working towards her Level 2 Excellent with just one more Excellent score to get.
